Les infrastructures disputent à l'architecture le pouvoir politique de faire image. Elles incarnent, comme elle, la puissance d'une nation et la volonté d'en prolonger l'héritage. Cette évidence doit aujourd'hui être relativisée, tant sont vacillants les contextes dans lesquels les infrastructures sont bâties, gérées ou encore transformées. Après la crise du progrès, l'effondrement des empires coloniaux ou des totalitarismes, à l'époque de la dématérialisation des technologies et de la multiplication des risques environnementaux, la question de la durée et de la représentativité des infrastructures devient toujours plus problématique. Que dire en effet de leur résistance, de leur adaptabilité ou de leur valeur de témoignage dès lors que l'aura qu'elles étaient censées représenter s'affaiblit et que l'ancrage territorial ne constitue plus une de leurs données? En analysant des exemples d'infrastructures produites dans plusieurs contextes politiques – la dictature militaire brésilienne, le socialisme soviétique, le colonialisme d'Indochine ou encore la démocratie participative du « capitalocène » – cet ouvrage révèle combien leur rôle symbolique se renouvelle de manière imprévisible. Il en interroge également les destins potentiels, dans la cristallisation des imaginaires politiques à venir, entre actualisations de modèles anciens et fictions postapocalyptiques. Enfin, il se penche sur la résistance qu'opposent les infrastructures aux perpétuelles mutations de la ville contemporaine, et montre dans quelle mesure elles permettent d'assurer l'ajustement entre le réel et les imaginaires qui traversent l'espace urbain.

The first version of this atlas was released as video-assisted major pulmonary resections were just emerging as a valid alternative to conventional techniques. In this second edition, many different techniques have been described, depending on the use or non-use of an accessory mini-thoracotomy and on the use or non-use of endoscopic instrumentation and video display. One of these techniques is the totally endoscopic approach, in which only endoscopic instruments and monitor control are used. This is the technique that will be described in this atlas. The purpose of this atlas is to describe each endoscopic pulmonary lobectomy and segmentectomy step by step, relying on brief technical notes and high-quality still pictures which are orientated and labeled to make them as comprehensible as possible. Each chapter is introduced by an anatomical background which is illustrated by three-dimensional reconstructions. Technical «tricks» and specific dangers are mentioned by pictograms. The technical descriptions of this atlas are based on the author’s technique, which can be different from other video-assisted approaches. Our intent is that surgeons embarking in video-assisted major pulmonary resections-whatever the approach they use-can find helpful hints and take their bearings in this totally new vision of pulmonary and mediastinal anatomy. Compared to the previous version, all chapters have need rewritten, taking into account, the progresses of the technique and the technology and some new chapters have been added. Most steps of the procedures are now illustrated, not only with pictures, but also with a video clip.

This book focuses on the lobar anatomy of the breast and on the sick lobe concept – a novel theory of breast cancer development that is gaining ever wider acceptance – and explores their significance for innovative surgical treatment. Special attention is paid to the role of ductal echography, a technique capable of clearly depicting the structures of cancer in relation to the structures of the sick lobe. Having established a sound theoretical and practical basis through detailed coverage and correlation of anatomy, pathology, and imaging appearances, the book goes on to describe a revolutionary surgical approach particularly suitable for the treatment of multifocal and multicentric breast carcinomas. Such tumors account for more than a third of all cases of breast carcinoma and are often treated by mastectomy. The proposed new breast-conserving technique yields excellent cosmetic results and entails a very low risk of recurrence. The book will appeal to a wide readership, including radiologists, surgeons, oncologists, pathologists, as well as residents.
